Sam Allardyce reflects on "up-and-down" season for West Ham United

Manager Sam Allardyce describes West Ham's recent Premier League campaign as "very up and down".

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has described his team's recent Premier League campaign as "very up and down".

The Hammers were in danger of being relegated at the start of 2014, but a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend saw them secure their survival in the top flight.

Allardyce's side ended the season on Sunday with a 2-0 defeat at newly-crowned champions Manchester City.

"Overall the season has been very up and down," he told the club's official website. "The way it panned out in the end was about right, our points total being roughly where you'd expect to finish. However, we've really done the best part of our season in the last 15 games.

"In the last 15 games we've won seven of those so we've nearly got a 50% win rate from those fixtures. To achieve that after where we were in January is a pretty good job."

Allardyce recently claimed that he does not expect to be sacked as manager of West Ham following the team's disappointing campaign.
