West Bromwich Albion are beaten 2-1 by Hannover, thanks to a late own goal from Craig Dawson.

West Bromwich Albion have been beaten 2-1 by Hannover in their first game of pre-season.

The Baggies fielded a largely familiar lineup, with new signing Nicolas Anelka given his debut alongside Markus Rosenberg.

It was the Swedish international who got West Brom's goal, finishing from close range to cancel out Mame Biram Diouf's opener.

Anelka showed some nice touches in his first match for the club, linking together a flowing move on 15 minutes, which ended with him shooting straight at the Hannover goalkeeper.

West Brom looked to be heading for a draw with 10 minutes to go, but were undone when Christian Pander's shot took a big deflection off Craig Dawson, sending Ben Foster the wrong way.
