Vydra preparing to "work hard"

Matej Vydra has conceded that he has a battle on his hands to earn a starting role at West Bromwich Albion.

The Czech Republic international, who joined the Baggies on a season-long loan deal from Udinese in the summer, has spent the last few weeks on the sidelines through injury.

During his absence, the likes of Shane Long, Victor Anichebe, Nicolas Anelka, Stephane Sessegnon and Saido Berahino have all been selected to play up front by boss Steve Clarke.

With that in mind, Vydra has admitted that he will have to "work hard" to ensure that he is part of his manager's plans.

"Now we have about seven forwards and use two. I know I have to work hard to convince the manager. Nobody has a place for granted," the 21-year-old told reporters.

Vydra is expected to be included in the West Brom squad that travels to Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.
