Liam Ridgewell: Nicolas Anelka and Shane Long could be "frightening"

West Bromwich Albion defender Liam Ridgewell believes that a partnership of Nicolas Anelka and Shane Long could frighten Premier League defenders.

Anelka completed a move to the Baggies on a free transfer after spending the second half of last season at Juventus, as manager Steve Clarke looked to replace Romelu Lukaku, who returned to Chelsea following his successful loan spell at The Hawthorns.

"I'm sure Shane [Long] will be looking forward to it," Ridgewell told the Express & Star. "Him [Anelka] and Shane together could be frightening.

"I wouldn't want to be defending with those two running at me. As a pairing, I'm sure they will be very good for us."

Long scored 11 goals for the Baggies in all competitions last season.
