Rickie Lambert targets England recall

Rickie Lambert has claimed that he is targeting an England recall after moving to West Bromwich Albion last week.

The 33-year-old managed to score just two Premier League goals in his only season with Liverpool, but he is confident of producing the performances needed to catch the attention of Roy Hodgson.

"You have just got to believe in yourself and hopefully if I play like I did in a couple of seasons at Southampton then there's no reason why I can't get back in there," Lambert told the Birmingham Mail.

"I scored 15 goals and then 13 goals for Southampton and obviously it is over a year since I did that but I have just got to get back to that now. I've just got to ignore the comments and focus on my football."

Lambert made the last of his 11 appearances for England in the victory over Scotland in November.
