Tony Pulis: 'Cesc Fabregas's red card helped us beat Chelsea'

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis claims that Chelsea "helped" the Baggies win their Premier League game at The Hawthorns thanks to Cesc Fabregas's sending-off.

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis has claimed that Chelsea "helped" the Baggies win their Premier League game at The Hawthorns on Monday night thanks to Cesc Fabregas's sending-off.

The hosts took the lead through Saido Berahino, but the Blues soon went on to dominate proceedings on the pitch until the half-hour mark, when the ex-Arsenal midfielder was dismissed for kicking the ball at Chris Brunt.

Berahino bagged himself a second goal after the restart before Brunt got his own back on Chelsea by killing the game off with a third on the hour to secure a comprehensive 3-0 win against the league's runaway leaders.

Pulis told BBC Sport: "We still have one more game to go but we are delighted we finished 13th. To win at Manchester United, to beat Chelsea, to draw against Liverpool.

"Chelsea helped us with Cesc Fabregas getting sent off. But they are the best team in the league by a country mile. I haven't seen the red card. Until I see it, I will let you know. I don't think Jose has seen it either."

West Brom could finish as high as 10th in the Premier League table if they win their final game of the season and other results go their way, while only Chelsea's pride is dented as they have already secured the title.
