Gareth McAuley hails impact of new manager Tony Pulis

West Brom defender Gareth McAuley hails the impact of boss Tony Pulis after the Baggies beat Hull City 1-0 in the Welshman's first Premier League game in charge.

West Bromwich Albion defender Gareth McAuley has admitted that new manager Tony Pulis has already made a big impact after they beat Hull City 1-0 on Saturday.

Saido Berahino struck late on in Pulis's first Premier League game in charge of Albion, and McAuley believes that the team can keep improving game by game under the stewardship of the Welshman.

He told Sky Sports News: "He's come in and been positive right from the start. He's been straight on to the training pitch and got some good work into us over the last week.

"By no means are we the finished article yet but we have another week of full training ahead of us going into the next game so hopefully we can improve on the things we have been asked to do.

"He's certainly got a presence and a good way about him. He's got good men with him as well. We're trying to create an atmosphere and trying to build something going forward, and do that as a team unit so everyone is in it together."

West Brom will look to continue climbing away from the relegation zone when they travel to Everton next weekend.
