Diego Lugano has set his new club West Bromwich Albion the target of qualifying for European competitions.
During Steve Clarke's first season in charge last term, the Baggies finished eighth in the standings and at one point were even in a Champions League berth.
Having agreed a two-year contract with the club yesterday, the Uruguayan defender believes that his teammates should set their sights on bettering last season's performances.
"I am very pleased to join West Bromwich Albion for the next two years," he wrote on Twitter. "I'm getting a taste of what I was missing in my career – playing in the Premier League, without doubt the most beautiful and competitive league in the world.
"The challenge is to match with West Bromwich what they did last season and try to go a step further to reach European competitions."
Lugano is believed to have cost West Brom around £1m.
