West Bromwich Albion midfielder Claudio Yacob has admitted that he is happy to have made a positive impact on the club's supporters.
Despite the fact that he has yet to find the net since his summer arrival with the Baggies, the Argentine has received numerous plaudits for the defensive work that he has carried out in the midfield.
Although he has conceded that scoring goals is the ultimate aim for his team, the 25-year-old is pleased that he has become a key player in the eyes of the fans.
"I don't catch the attention like players such as [Romelu] Lukaku and [Shane] Long," he is quoted as saying by the Express & Star. "I don't score goals because that's not my role – but I think my function is very important to help the team achieve their overall goal. Scoring is the aim of the match but it's not the most important thing.
"I'm over the moon that I'm well thought of and I feel I want to give it back to the supporters as much as I can. I'm very happy and I like the song the fans have made up for me."
Yacob joined West Brom on a free transfer because his contract with Racing Club had expired.
