West Bromwich Albion's Chris Brunt gives up on Europe

Brunt reveals Europe doubts

West Bromwich Albion captain Chris Brunt is resigned to the likelihood that the Baggies will fail to clinch a place in Europe.

The current eighth-placed team would need to finish fifth in order to secure a place in the Europa League for next season.

"People have been talking about Europe but it's probably a step too far now, and for a club of our size it would probably be a bit of a stretch on resources," the Express & Star quotes Brunt as saying.

"If it happened it would be great but it would be tough. We've got to finish better than we did last year. We've got to finish higher up the table and with more points. That would be a successful season for us."

The Baggies finished 10th in last year's campaign.
