Chris Brunt tries to calm injury fears

Brunt hopes to be fit for new season

West Bromwich Albion midfielder Chris Brunt has claimed that he expects to be fit for the new Premier League campaign after being sent home from the Baggies' pre-season tour of Sweden.

The 27-year-old returned to the Hawthorns for treatment after aggravating a previous calf injury during a training session in a camp in Malmo this week.

"It was decided it would be best for me to continue my rehab work, on what is a minor calf injury, at the club's training ground," Brunt told the Express & Star.

"The state-of-the-art facilities we now have should help to speed up my recovery."

Meanwhile, West Brom boss Steve Clarke is hopeful of the return of winger Zoltan Gera, who missed the majority of last season due to a cruciate ligament injury.
