West Bromwich Albion have confirmed that defender Jonas Olsson is to undergo a minor Achillies operation later this week.
The Swedish centre-back, whose last appearance for the Baggies came in September, is now likely to be sidelined until the New Year.
Olsson was initially axed by manager Alan Irvine earlier this season due to errors against Swansea City and Everton, which has led to speculation linking the 31-year-old with a move away from The Hawthorns in recent weeks.
However, Irvine claimed last week that Olsson is still very much a big part of his future plans when he recovers from his injury setback.
