Watford are interested in signing Bournemouth's Steve Cook in a bid to bolster their squad for the second half of the season, according to a report.

Watford are interested in signing Bournemouth's Steve Cook in the upcoming January transfer market, according to a report.

Claudio Ranieri's team have conceded 31 goals throughout their 16 Premier League games, and there are only three other clubs that have let in more this season.

According to Football Insider, the Hornets are hoping to sign Cook in January as they look to add more defensive security to the team, but they are not the only club that are interested in him as Queens Park Rangers are also keeping tabs on the centre-back.

The 30-year-old is out of contract with the Cherries at the end of the season, therefore he would be available for a lower price, with this being their last chance to make money on him.

Cook is the club captain and has made more than 380 appearances during his time with Bournemouth, with many of those coming in the top flight.

Watford are currently 17th in the Premier League table, with just two points separating them and Burnley, who sit inside the relegation zone.
