Quique Flores plays down Valon Behrami speculation

Flores plays down Behrami speculation

Watford boss Quique Flores has played down suggestions that Valon Behrami could seek a move away from Vicarage Road in the January transfer window.

The 30-year-old joined the Hornets from Hamburger SV in the summer, signing a three-year contract with the newly-promoted club.

The Swiss international has not started a league game since September, however, and it had been claimed that he could seek pastures new next month.

Flores, however, has said that while he 'cannot guarantee first-team football for any player', Behrami is a "very important player" for the club.

"I don't have any doubts about [Valon] Behrami. I can't guarantee first-team football for any player, so the guarantee to be in the first XI for any player is to train well," Flores told reporters.

"Every single week is different for us. I can guarantee Valon Behrami is a very important player for us."

Behrami has previously played in the Premier League for West Ham United, representing the Hammers between 2008 and 2011, before joining Fiorentina.
