Watford announce Quique Flores will leave at end of the season

Watford announce that manager Quique Flores will leave the club at the end of the season.

Watford have announced that manager Quique Flores will leave the club at the end of the season.

The Spaniard's position has been in doubt ever since the board confirmed that they would review the situation when the Premier League campaign comes to an end.

At the time, reports claimed that the hierarchy were disappointed with the club's form in 2016, which has yielded just four league wins for the Hornets.

Despite that, Flores managed to comfortably keep Watford in the top flight 12 months after the club earned promotion from the Championship.

A statement from Watford read: "We would like to thank Quique. He and the team achieved the target set them at the start of the season of staying in the Premier League for a second year.

"Quique leaves with all our best wishes for the future and the knowledge he is always welcome at Vicarage Road."

Flores, who was appointed as manager last year, also guided the club to an FA Cup semi-final, where they were beaten 2-1 by Crystal Palace at Wembley.

The 51-year-old has already been linked with a move to Leeds United, who are expected to part company with current boss Steve Evans.
