Heurelho Gomes: 'Confidence is high'

Heurelho Gomes believes that Watford can enter a tough festive schedule full of confidence after three successive victories.

Heurelho Gomes has claimed that Watford can approach a tricky festive schedule with confidence after continuing their fine form with victory over Sunderland.

A 1-0 triumph over the Black Cats made it three successive wins for the Hornets, and Gomes believes that they can continue to climb up the table, despite facing Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City in their next four games.

"The target is to finish as high as we can in the table as it's not finished yet," the Brazilian goalkeeper told the club's website.

"I know the Premier League is a tough league and you can't sleep in any games. Of course it's a tough period coming up, but we're going to go in with big confidence and we're going to play with our heart like we are doing until now, and this is the most important thing.

"We need to focus on this period and recover as maximum as we can, and now we can start to think about the Liverpool game."

Watford currently occupy seventh spot in the table.
