Coleman: 'France are best team we've played'

Wales boss Chris Coleman has heaped praise on France after the Dragons succumbed to a 2-0 defeat in Paris on Friday night.

Goals from Antoine Griezmann and Olivier Giroud secured a comfortable win for the Euro 2016 finalists, while Wales suffered their second successive setback without scoring a goal.

However, while Coleman was impressed with Didier Deschamps's team, the Welshman has suggested that his own side are going through "a transitional period".

The 47-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "We had to do a lot of running - they are a super talented team. We're in a transitional period now and will be for the next 12 months. France have momentum and they're probably the best team we've ever played against.

"It was great experience for our young players. We've got another gear in us but I think that's a psychological thing after the disappointment of the qualifying campaign."

Wales will complete their fixtures for 2017 with a home clash against Panama on Tuesday night.
