Hal Robson-Kanu: 'I will be fit for Wales Euro 2016 opener'

Robson-Kanu: 'I will be fit for opener'

Wales striker Hal Robson-Kanu has insisted that he will be "100%" fit for his side's opening match at Euro 2016 this weekend.

Chris Coleman's side will take on Slovakia in Bordeaux on Saturday, but Robson-Kanu's preparation for the game has been hampered by a leg injury he sustained during a training camp in Portugal two weeks ago.

However, he has returned to training ahead of schedule and confirmed that he will be ready to start if called upon.

"I've trained. I'm feeling good, feeling fresh. Come Saturday I'll be 100%," he told reporters.

"I was always confident I would be fine, even though a few people around me were panicking. It was a ruptured plantaris and apparently it's quite impressive to come back from that so soon.

"But it was just innocuous, no-one was to blame for it. My focus was just getting back on the pitch. I've not had to have pain-killing injections, I've just got on with the hard work."

Wales, who will be appearing at a major international tournament for the first time since 1958, will also take on England and Russia in Group B.
