Gareth Bale dedicates Wales qualification for Euro 2016 to Gary Speed

Wales and Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale dedicates his national side's qualification for Euro 2016 to former Dragons manager Gary Speed, who died in 2011.

Wales and Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale has dedicated his national side's qualification for Euro 2016 to former manager Gary Speed.

Speed was appointed as Dragons boss in December 2010, managing the Home Nation until his death in November 2011.

Wales went on to win six of their qualifying games following Chris Coleman's appointment to reach their first major tournament since 1958.

Bale told BBC Sport: "It was a difficult time with the death of Gary for us as players, we were very close to him. It was one of those times that maybe made us a little bit stronger.

"We wanted to do it for Gary and his family as well. Chris Coleman coming in really gave us that belief. It was a difficult time but we have tried to use it as a positive and do it for Gary."

Wales will be one of the lowest-seeded teams in France, with Northern Ireland, Albania and Iceland, plus two other teams to be decided by the playoffs, also in Pot 4.
