Allen praises "brilliant" team performance

Wales midfielder Joe Allen has described the team's performance as "brilliant" following a 2-1 victory over Slovakia in their opening Group B match at Euro 2016 on Saturday.

Gareth Bale opened the scoring in the 10th minute, but Wales were pegged back in the second half when Ondrej Duda found an equaliser.

Hal Robson-Kanu netted the winner nine minutes from time, marking the nation's first match at a major tournament since 1958 with a win.

"Never mind my performance, the team was brilliant," Allen told BBC Sport. "To go one up and get back into it was brilliant. That's what this team is all about, digging in and hanging on to it.

"From start to finish, the fans were immense. They stayed loud and that helps you get an extra five, ten percent which makes all the difference."

Wales will take on England and Russia in their remaining group games.
