Report: Javier Aquino close to Celtic loan move

Villarreal attacker Javier Aquino is reportedly close to joining Celtic on loan.

The 24-year-old, who was part of the Mexico squad at this summer's World Cup, made 32 league appearances for the Yellow Submarine last season.

However, according to El Periodico Mediterraneo, Celtic received a positive response from Villarreal after making their interest in the winger known.

It is understood that Villarreal are not prepared to lose the attacker on a permanent deal, but are open to the prospect of a season-long loan.

Aquino scored twice for Villarreal last season.
