Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 Real Salt Lake

Vancouver Whitecaps have moved up to third in the MLS Western Conference with a 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake at BC Place.

After a goalless first half the hosts went ahead on 58 minutes when Camilo Sanvezzo's effort found the bottom corner.

Their lead was doubled just six minutes later as Dane Richards drilled the ball home from outside of the area to deny Real Salt Lake the chance to go top of the league.

The visitors grabbed a late consolation through Nat Borchers's header, but they were unable to find an equaliser.
