Troyes' first Ligue 1 match in five years has ended in defeat.

Valenciennes recorded a narrow win at Stade de l'Aube, courtesy of an own goal scored by Rincon on 34 minutes.

The result was harsh on the hosts, who had looked to be the better team for large parts of the game.

Troyes now travel to Lyon on August 18.
