Paolo Di Canio is hoping that Swindon Town will continue to build upon today's promotion.

Paolo Di Canio is hoping that Swindon Town's promotion to League One is the start of more success for the club.

Despite losing 2-1 at Gillingham this afternoon, the Italian's side have been elevated to the next division by virtue of other results.

Reflecting on the achievement, Di Canio has revealed that the plans are in place for continued development.

"It's the start of a winning career I hope for me and this club," Di Canio told BBC Sport.

"I hope it can keep going because there is a plan for the future and I feel very good with the fans and the people at the club. I can only be happy today."

Di Canio took over the Robins last summer.
