Zoltan Liptak having Premier League trial

Liptak having Premier League trial

Former Southend United and Southampton defender Zoltan Liptak has revealed that he is having a trial with a Premier League club, believed to be Swansea City.

Swans manager Brendan Rodgers has made his wish to sign a defender known after seeing a move for Rafik Halliche blocked following an intervention from FIFA.

Rodgers' need for cover at the back grew over the weekend when Stephen Caulker was ruled out of action for two months.

The boss has admitted that he is currently exploring the free agent market and the unattached Liptak could fit the bill.

"I'm on trial at a Premier League club but I don't want to say anymore," the 26-year-old Hungarian told Nemzeti Sport. "I wouldn't even call it trial, I would say we try to get to know each other.

"I got the chance last Saturday, I travelled there on Sunday and attend my first training on Tuesday.

"There'll be a friendly game between the squad members on Wednesday and after this my future will be decided. On the weekend I may be ready to sit on the bench."

Liptak has made ten appearances for his national side.
