Swansea City too good for Reading

Swansea City prove too good for Championship side Reading winning their pre-season friendly at the Madejski Stadium 3-1 to respond to defeat at Bournemouth.

Swansea City responded to being beaten 3-1 by Bournemouth last night by conquering Reading by the same scoreline at the Madjeski Stadium this afternoon.

They were given a chance to get off to the perfect start less than 15 minutes into the contest, when Reading defender Sean Morrison decided to punch a Dwight Tiendalli cross out of harms way, but Wilfried Bony smashed the resulting penalty against the crossbar.

It did not take the Premier League side long to recover, however. Gylfi Sigurdsson fed the ball to Bony, whose pass was spot on to pick out Wayne Routledge for the winger to stroke home after some good footwork.

Routledge made it two for him and two for Swansea just two minutes later. It was a great show of strength from Bony to hold off the Reading defence before looping the ball over his head for Sigurdsson to set up Routledge, who curled home first time.

Swansea looked to be cruising, but Reading forced their way back into the game with a goal just before the break. Lukas Fabianski was left grasping at air after Nick Blackman let fly from 30-yards, leaving the Polish keeper with no chance.

The hosts were able to hold on until 65 minutes when Swans new boy Bafetimbi Gomis got on the scoresheet with a calm finish after going through one-on-one, scooping the ball over Adam Federici in the Reading goal.
