Laudrup: 'I would have kept Swansea up'

Former Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has insisted that he would have kept the team in the Premier League this season.

The Dane was sacked by the club at the start of the month following an 18-month spell in charge at the Liberty Stadium.

The 49-year-old was replaced by Swansea stalwart Garry Monk.

When asked if he could have steered the side further up the Premier League table, Laudrup told reporters on Tuesday: "Of course. I know the players. These are things you have to accept when you don't win games."

Laudrup was speaking to the press for the first time since his departure from the club.
