Half-Time Report: Bojan penalty edges Stoke City ahead of Swansea City at break

Bojan penalty puts Stoke ahead

Bojan Krkic's penalty has given Stoke City a 1-0 half-time lead over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

It was the best possible start for the visitors as Bojan picked the ball up in space before going past two Swansea players and eventually going down under a challenge from Ashley Williams.

The referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot for the penalty, and Bojan took on the responsibility from 12 yards to send Lukasz Fabianski the wrong way with a confident finish.

Swansea struggled to keep the ball for much of the early stages, but they were almost gifted an equaliser when Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland sent a pass straight to Andre Ayew, before sprinting out to dispossess the Ghanaian, despite appearing to lead with his studs.

Garry Monk's side improved as the first half progressed, but clear opportunities were difficult to find as Jonjo Shelvey tested the comfortable Butland with a low strike from outside the box.

Stoke had a chance to double their lead when Xherdan Shaqiri played a clever reverse pass to find Glen Johnson, who dragged his effort wide of the post from a tight angle.
