Sunderland midfielder Jordi Gomez has insisted that his side did not deserve to lose to Tottenham Hotspur yesterday afternoon.
The winless Black Cats dominated much of the first half at the Stadium of Light, but they were unable to convert any of their chances and ended up being defeated 1-0 thanks to Ryan Mason's late goal for the visitors.
Despite having suffered what the Spaniard has described as an unjustified loss, he has claimed that the team can take "a lot of confidence" from their display.
"We deserved at least a point against Spurs and hopefully we can now take that into the next game. We had a very good game, created chances and were a bit unlucky at the end with the goal we conceded," he told The Chronicle.
"I think that game will give us a lot of confidence to keep doing the same things. I think we will only get better by the game and as the weeks go on."
The result has left Dick Advocaat's men bottom of the Premier League table, with two points from their five outings.
