Jermaine Pennant refutes exit speculation

Pennant denies Wigan rumours

Stoke City winger Jermaine Pennant has claimed that he has "no idea" why rumours of an impending departure to Wigan Athletic have surfaced.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a transfer to the Latics following reports that the Potters are closing in on a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Michael Kightly.

Pennant wrote on Twitter: "Just read most of the tweets. And I can honestly say this is the first time I've heard anything about me and Wigan.

"And I even spoke to my agent last night - chit chat - and he never mentioned a thing either so have no idea where you've heard that from, just rumours probably because we are getting Kightly."

Pennant was rumoured to have fallen out with Stoke boss Tony Pulis last season following a number of off-field problems.
