Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has dispelled rumours that Xherdan Shaqiri could be on his way to Roma in the January transfer window.
The Switzerland international's brother and agent Erdin Shaqiri appeared to suggest earlier this month that a switch to the Italian club could be on the cards.
He was quoted as saying "never say never" by the media when asked about his sibling's future with the Potters, but Hughes has claimed that Shaqiri has no intention of leaving and is even close to buying a new house in the area.
"I've heard the speculation, but that is all it is - speculation," Hughes told The Mirror. "There was a throwaway comment from his brother and it was jumped upon by some people who thought there was something afoot.
"But that isn't the case. Shaq is moving into a new property at the moment, so that would suggest he's happy here and settled. Take it from me, he isn't going anywhere, anytime soon."
In the Potters' last Premier League outing, Shaqiri scored twice in a victory over Hull City.
