Mark Hughes: 'Xherdan Shaqiri is happy at Stoke and will not leave in January'

Hughes: 'Shaqiri not leaving in January'

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has said he is confident that Xherdan Shaqiri does not want to leave and insists that any offers in January will be rejected.

The Switzerland international has featured 12 times in the Premier League this season, scoring three goals and providing five assists.

The Potters currently sit in 15th, just three points above the relegation zone, but the Stoke boss remains confident that Shaqiri is happy at the club.

"I don't think there's any enthusiasm for any situation to develop in terms of his future," Hughes told talkSPORT.

"He's contracted here, he's doing very well. If there are any enquiries, certainly for Shaq, in January, they won't be given much encouragement."

Stoke welcome Liverpool to the bet365 Stadium on Wednesday evening, knowing that they could move as high as 12th with a win. Follow all the action from the match with our live text commentary.
