Asmir Begovic expects new Stoke City deal to be "sorted out" this summer

Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic hints at a new Stoke City contract this summer as his current deal nears its final season.

Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has said that he expects to sign a new deal with the club, despite rumours that he may be set to leave this summer.

Begovic has been The Potters' number one for the past four seasons, and has been repeatedly linked with the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City.

The Bosnian's current contract runs out in 2016 and after his deputy, Jack Butland, penned a new five-year deal last month, rumours began circulating over his future. However, he hinted that he would not leave unless it was for a big club.

He told reporters: "We all want to play for trophies and play in the biggest games around. I'm no different. I think the club is doing some good things and moving in the right direction. Let's see if we can sort something out.

"We know where we stand. We are talking. We will see what opportunities come up and what the club want to do and where they see me in the future. It's about evaluating everything. I am sure everything will be sorted out when things quieten down in the summer. It's about focusing on the last six games.

"The club have been great to me. We've had a great working relationship over the last five and a bit years. It (leaving) wouldn't be for just anything. In a business sense, if a certain bid comes in, then I'm sure I'll be sold, too. It's a business from both sides."

Begovic has made 167 appearances for the club since he joined from Portsmouth in 2010.
