Team News: Ryan Shawcross returns for Stoke City

Captain Ryan Shawcross lines up for Stoke City against Southampton after eight games out.

Captain Ryan Shawcross lines up for Stoke City against Southampton after eight games out with a back injury.

The centre-back makes his first appearance since January, his inclusion representing the only change from Mark Hughes following their draw with Chelsea last time out. Marc Muniesa is the man to make way, dropping to the bench.

Also starting for the Potters is Glenn Whelan, as the Irishman marks his 300th appearance for the side.

Ronald Koeman, meanwhile, has implemented two changes to the side that snatched a last-minute draw with Sunderland.

Shane Long has returned to fitness and takes a place in the XI, while Matt Targett is also handed a start. Jose Fonte loses out due to suspension, while Sadio Mane drops to the bench this afternoon.

Southampton: Forster, Martina, Van Dijk, Targett, Bertrand, Romeu, Clasie, Long, Davis, Tadic, Pelle
