Robert Huth "progressing well" after suffering viral meningitis

Huth "likely" to return in fortnight

Stoke City have revealed that defender Robert Huth is "progressing well" after being diagnosed with viral meningitis.

The 27-year-old was rushed to hospital on Monday evening with the illness but is expected to make a full recovery.

A statement on the club's official website said: "[Huth] will remain in hospital for the next few days while he completes a course of antibiotics, but he is progressing well in his recovery. "Although it is too early to predict the length of Huth's absence, it is likely to be at least two weeks before he is available to return to action."

Huth has played at the Britannia Stadium since 2009.
