Stoke City boss Mark Hughes pays tribute to his team's solid start to the 2017-18 campaign, which has brought five points from four matches.

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has said that his team "are really pleased" with their start to the 2017-18 campaign.

The Potters currently sit 12th in the Premier League table, having collected five points from their opening four league games of the new season.

Hughes's side are yet to win away in the top flight this term, but they have beaten Arsenal and held Manchester United at the bet365 Stadium.

"We are really pleased how we've started. We look really bright in our work. Looking at our fixture list when it came out and the first seven or eight games were as hard as anybody's. We're halfway through that. We've laid a platform," Hughes told reporters.

"We've added a lot of good players and first of foremost congratulations to the players. The ones who have been here understand what I want and the new boys have settled in quickly."

Next up for Stoke is a trip to Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.
