Football Association charges Mark Hughes with improper conduct

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes faces an improper conduct charge after being dismissed from the touchline during the team's defeat to Newcastle United.

Mark Hughes has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association after he was dismissed from the touchline.

The Stoke City manager was sent to the stands during the Potters' 5-1 defeat to Newcastle United yesterday after reacting angrily when Glenn Whelan was sent off.

A statement from the FA said: "It is alleged that his behaviour in or around the 40th minute of the fixture amounted to improper conduct."

Hughes has until January 2 to respond to the charge.
