Stoke's Peter Odemwingie reveals he is still 'months away from full fitness'

Odemwingie 'months away from full fitness'

Stoke City forward Peter Odemwingie has admitted that he is still months away from full fitness.

The Nigeria international suffered a knee ligament injury last season which left him out of action for eight months.

Despite making his comeback in April and featuring in Stoke's pre-season friendlies against Everton, Singapore and Brentford, Odemwingie says that he still requires time to pick up match fitness.

"I'm still a few months away from being 100%, but I am happy with where I am now," he told Stoke City Player. "I do all the necessary work. Fitness now is what I want to achieve - there's no shortcuts.

"I just have to make those efforts off the ball as well, which I try my best to do, which will bring me back to my best physical condition."

Odemwingie signed for the Potters from Cardiff City in January 2014 and has since scored six goals in 23 appearances.
