Ireland suffers broken leg in training

Stoke City have announced that midfielder Stephen Ireland is facing an "extended spell" on the sidelines after breaking his leg in training.

The injury has ruled the 29-year-old out of the club's final Premier League game of the season against West Ham United at the Britannia Stadium.

This afternoon, the club tweeted: "#SCFC can confirm Stephen Ireland is facing an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering a broken leg in training this morning.

"All at #SCFC wish Stephen a speedy recovery and will offer him all the support he requires as he undergoes his rehabilitation."

The midfielder has made 16 appearances for the Potters this season.
