Result: Stoke City 1-0 Hajduk Split

Stoke City have overcome Hajduk Split 1-0 in the first leg of their third round Europa League qualifier at the Britannia Stadium.

The Potters took the lead in the third minute, when Jonathan Walters scored with a header courtesy of an assist from Matthew Etherington.

While possession lay mostly with the Croatian side they failed to equalise, with only one on-target attempt to trouble Asmir Begovic.

Hajduk Split will host Stoke on Thursday, August 4.
