Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly open to offers of around £15m for defender Ben Davies, who only signed a new deal with the club last summer.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly willing to part ways with versatile defender Ben Davies for the right price this summer.

The Wales international has proven to be a useful squad member for Tottenham in their three-at-the-back system, being deployed in the heart of defence or as a wing-back.

Having played a key role in Tottenham's return to the Champions League last season, Davies was rewarded with a new contract less than a year ago, and his current terms run until 2025.

Despite a couple of niggling injuries, Davies has remained a prominent member of Spurs' first team this season, but he was singled out for criticism in last weekend's 3-1 loss to Brentford.

With Tottenham expected to be in the market for defensive additions this summer, Football Insider claims that the Lilywhites are open to appropriate bids for the 30-year-old ahead of the 2023-24 season.

The report claims that a fee of £15m would be acceptable to Tottenham, who are prepared to offload the Wales international regardless of who takes charge as head coach this summer.

Davies is believed to be collecting £80,000 per week under his current terms, but Tottenham are preparing for a significant defensive shake-up, and Davies could be one of the names on the chopping block.

The former Swansea City man left his boyhood club in an £11m deal to sign for Tottenham in 2014, and he has scored eight goals and set up 24 more in 310 matches for the Lilywhites in all tournaments.

Davies has two goals and two assists to his name from 39 matches in the 2022-23 campaign, starting 25 Premier League matches and a further four in the Champions League.

The versatile defender is yet to win a major trophy with the North London club, but he became an EFL Cup champion with Swansea in the 2012-13 season, one year before his move to North London.

A 77-cap Wales international, Davies started all three of the Dragons' matches at the 2022 World Cup, but he sustained an abdominal injury in their final 3-0 defeat to England.

Davies is not the only defensive stalwart facing an uncertain future at Tottenham, as Eric Dier is out of contract at the end of next season and is yet to agree to an extension.

Dier was initially expected to sign a new deal with Tottenham, but he has recently been dropped from the starting lineup owing to a spate of poor performances and could now leave on a free transfer in 2024.

Number one goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is not expected to stick around beyond the end of the season either, while it is unclear if Clement Lenglet's loan deal from Barcelona will be made permanent.

Tottenham end a troubled campaign away to Leeds United on Sunday, where Ryan Mason's side must better Aston Villa's result against Brighton & Hove Albion and hope that Brentford fail to beat Manchester City to stand a chance of qualifying for the Europa Conference League.
