Tottenham transfer news: Spurs reach 'verbal agreement' to sign 27y/o attacker as terms of deal revealed

Spurs reach 'verbal agreement' to sign 27y/o attacker

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Manchester City to sign Omar Marmoush before the summer transfer window closes.

Spurs endured a miserable start to their 2026-27 Premier League campaign, suffering a 3-0 defeat away to Brentford, with Roberto De Zerbi admitting afterwards that his revamped side are still some way from becoming a cohesive unit.

The North London club have been among the Premier League's biggest spenders this summer, welcoming six new arrivals, but De Zerbi's rebuilding project appears far from complete.

Tottenham have already reportedly agreed an overall £85m package for Manchester City winger Savinho, who is due to undergo his medical in the coming days.

Savinho could now be joined in North London by another City attacker, with Marmoush's potential arrival adding yet more firepower and versatility to De Zerbi's frontline.

Omar Marmoush: Tottenham reach verbal agreement

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have reached a verbal agreement with Man City to sign Marmoush on loan for the remainder of the season.

The deal reportedly includes an obligation to buy for £50m if certain conditions are met, meaning Spurs could eventually make the Egyptian a permanent member of their squad.

Marmoush has already given the green light to the Tottenham project and is expected to travel to London on Monday to undergo his medical.

There is still work to be completed before the deal can be formally sealed, but Marmoush's departure from the Etihad Stadium now appears increasingly inevitable and could be finalised within the next week.

Omar Marmoush: Smart signing from Tottenham?

Marmoush joined Man City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025 for a reported £59m and made an immediate impression after arriving in Manchester.

The former Wolfsburg attacker has since scored 16 goals in 62 appearances, although his influence diminished last season as he slipped further down the pecking order.

His versatility could make him an especially valuable addition for De Zerbi, with Marmoush capable of operating on either flank or through the middle as a striker.

Marmoush and Savinho may not have quite fulfilled their potential at City, but there is no question that both possess considerable quality.

If De Zerbi can unlock the best of the pair, Tottenham could turn two players who struggled to establish themselves at the Etihad into key figures in their own ambitious rebuild.
