Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp wants to sign England youth international Adam Smith on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports.

Harry Redknapp reportedly wants to raid former club Tottenham Hotspur for promising defender Adam Smith as Queens Park Rangers prepare for life in the Championship.

Smith has experience of playing in the second tier after impressing on loan at Millwall last season.

Redknapp wants Smith on a season-long loan and hopes to persuade Spurs that his development will be best suited to a spell at Loftus Road, according to The Mirror.

The QPR boss sees Smith as an ideal replacement for Jose Bosingwa, who is certain to leave West London after a disappointing campaign with the Hoops.

Andros Townsend proved a successful loan capture from Spurs and Redknapp believes that Smith can have a similar impact in a new-look QPR side.

The 22-year-old will join up with Stuart Pearce's England Under-21 squad this week as they prepare for the European Championship in Israel, which begins on June 5.
