Hugo Lloris says that the signing of Paulinho shows that Tottenham Hotspur can be a force next season.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris believes that the signing of Paulinho is evidence of the club's progressing development.

The Brazilian international completed a £17m move from Corinthians to White Hart Lane earlier this month, having just won the Confederations Cup with Brazil in June.

Lloris feels that the capture of the 24-year-old proves that Spurs can be contenders next season.

"It's a good thing for us to have a Brazil international in our team," Lloris told Sky Sports News.

"It shows that the club is still developing and improving because we can have now some great players like Paulinho."

Spurs start the season at Crystal Palace on Sunday August 18.
