Huddersfield have completed the signing of England Under-19 international Jaden Brown from Tottenham.

The left-back, 19, has joined the Terriers on a free transfer, agreeing a contract until the end of June 2021 with the club holding an option to extend.

Brown, born in Lewisham, south London, will initially join up with Huddersfield’s elite development squad.

The defender started all four of Spurs’ Checkatrade Trophy ties this season, and Huddersfield academy manager Leigh Bromby is confident the England youth international has a bright future.

Bromby said on the Huddersfield website: “We firmly believe that Jaden is one of the most promising young English full-backs around. He’s a player with a will to win and fight for his team, is good going forward and he has a clear desire to continue progressing in his career.”

Huddersfield boss David Wagner is expected to choose from an unchanged squad for Wednesday’s match against Burnley.

The Terriers lost a seventh straight Premier League game at Fulham on Saturday, which puts them five points adrift of safety at the foot of the table.

Defender Christopher Schindler accepts the team have to “be smarter” if they are to deliver results.

“We can take a lot of positives out of almost every game so far, apart from three or four when we’ve not showed the quality we’ve got, but that’s not enough anymore,” Schindler said.

“We just have to do it, show it, score goals and create chances; that’s what’s missing.

“You can see other teams are waiting, waiting for a counter attack and then hurting us; that’s working and that’s the frustrating thing. We have to be smarter and more dangerous.”

Schindler added on the club’s official website: “Maybe when your back is to the wall and you have the feeling that you have nothing to lose, because it can’t get worse than it is at the minute, then it gives you more freedom and give you the mindset to try things.

“Maybe this can help us turn it around the for a few games; that’s what I’m hoping for.”
