Udinese defender Destiny Udogie reportedly arrives in London as he prepares to undergo his medical as a new Tottenham Hotspur player.

Udinese left-back Destiny Udogie has reportedly arrived in North London as he prepares to undergo his medical with Tottenham Hotspur.

The 19-year-old starred on loan for Le Zebrette in the 2021-22 Serie A season and only signed for the club permanently from Hellas Verona earlier this summer.

Primarily operating as a left-wing back, Udogie came up with five goals and three assists in 35 Serie A outings for Udinese, as well as playing two games in the Coppa Italia.

Tottenham are now said to have agreed a deal to sign the Italy Under-21 international for an initial £15m, which could rise to as much as £20m with performance-related add-ons.

Udogie will remain at Udinese on loan for the 2022-23 season, but he was absent from Saturday's 4-2 defeat to AC Milan as he finalises his switch to Tottenham.

There were initial expectations that Udogie would undertake his medical in Italy, but according to the Evening Standard, the teenager has now flown to the UK.

The report adds that Udogie will spend the night at the on-site hotel at Tottenham's Hotspur Way training complex and will complete his medical imminently before returning to Udinese.

Udogie will become Spurs' seventh signing of the summer window, following Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Djed Spence and Clement Lenglet to the club.

Tottenham are now expected to be focused on outgoings for the remainder of the window and confirmed on Sunday night that Giovani Lo Celso had returned to Villarreal on loan.

Tanguy Ndombele could be the next name out of the door, with the Frenchman understood to be in talks with Napoli over a loan move with an option to make the deal permanent.

Harry Winks and Sergio Reguilon also do not appear to have long-term futures at the club, with the latter now behind Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon in the left-wing back pecking order.

Four of Spurs' new arrivals were in the squad for Sunday's 2-2 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League, with Lenglet missing out with an adductor injury while Spence did not make the cut amid a plethora of wing-back options for Antonio Conte.

The Tottenham boss and his opposite number Thomas Tuchel made headlines for their touchline tiffs during the London derby, and both managers were sent off at the final whistle of a fiery battle.

Following his red card, Conte - whose side rescued a last-minute draw through Harry Kane - insisted that he would always "fight aggression with aggression" after squaring up to Tuchel on more than one occasion.

The Lilywhites boss is now set to serve a touchline ban when Tottenham welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to the capital next Saturday lunchtime.
