Paulinho: 'We want to prove ourselves against Chelsea'

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho admits that his side want to prove they can compete at the top of the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho has revealed that the club want to use their match with Chelsea as a "stepping stone" to win more matches in the Premier League.

Spurs are currently in second position in the league table, and Paulinho has admitted that he and his teammates want to prove that they are capable of remaining in contention at the top of the standings.

The 25-year-old told The Telegraph: "It's a big match here in London, and in Brazil where many people will watch, and it's important for us, as a stepping stone to win more games.

"We faced Arsenal and did not get the result that we wanted. But we are going down the right path so it's great to have this opportunity to play against Chelsea in order to prove our level.

"Within the club, we know our ability and this will start with this match against Chelsea."

The Brazilian international has scored three times in eight matches since arriving at White Hart Lane.
