Mateo Musacchio: 'Tottenham Hotspur offer not good enough'

Villarreal defender Mateo Musacchio reveals that he rejected a move to Spurs because their offer was not good enough.

Villarreal defender Mateo Musacchio has revealed that he turned down a move to Tottenham Hotspur because the terms that were offered to him were not good enough.

The Argentine international, 24, was heavily linked with Spurs during the summer transfer window before deciding to reject the advances of the Premier League side.

Following speculation over his future, Musacchio now wants to focus on continuing his career with Villarreal.

"I'm fine here. I never said I wanted to leave and I never forced the situation," he told Estadio Deportivo. "This is my home. I've been here since I was very young, I am comfortable here and for that reason I didn't feel the need to leave.

"When you get offers they have to be good for the club and for the player. In this case it wasn't good enough for either, so in the end it didn't happen and I'm carrying on here."

Musacchio joined Villarreal from River Plate in 2009.
