Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane believes that teammate Dele Alli's Champions League ban will help him learn from his mistakes.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has suggested that Dele Alli's Champions League ban will help him learn from his mistakes.

Alli was sent off in Tottenham's final European game of last season, the 2-2 draw with Gent in the Europa League.

The suspension means that he will miss the first three group matches this term, starting against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

Kane told the Evening Standard: "He will be a big miss as he is a fantastic player who has been great for us over the last two seasons, but we have a fantastic squad.

"I am sure that whoever comes in will be ready to compete on the big stage. Dele is a miss, but that is football. It is done now and we have to concentrate on performing to the best of our ability.

"Dele will [continue to] play as he plays. He was disappointed to be sent off in the Europa League and he can only learn from it. When you make mistakes, you try to learn from them and I am sure he will.

"He will be gutted to miss these games but he will be determined to make sure he is ready for our last three matches."

Alli will also be absent for the away matches against APOEL Nicosia and Real Madrid.
