Defoe ruled out of Chelsea clash

Jermain Defoe has been ruled out of tonight's London derby against Chelsea after failing to overcome a hamstring problem.

Defoe is joined on the sidelines by Aaron Lennon, who is also suffering with a hamstring injury, while Gareth Bale is also likely to miss out with an ankle sprain.

Harry Redknapp is likely to select Emmanuel Adebayor to partner Rafael van der Vaart for the crunch game at White Hart Lane, although the Togelese frontman is also struggling with a minor foot injury.

Spurs can extend their lead over Chelsea to five points with a win this evening.

Defoe recently revealed his distress at the murder of his cousin in St Lucia.
